Books

Thousands of bound books and journals exist on campus. When departments purge libraries, clean out their offices, or update volumes, we have the ability to harvest the paper inside.

What We Recycle
Books, journals, and any bound items can be recycled.

How We Recycle
Books should be separated from office paper and magazines. Either gather the books in boxes for pick-up or call our office for a bin. A pick-up of more than 200 books is a billable service. The books are brought back to our office where employees and volunteers chop the bindings off. The bindings are discarded and the paper within is added to our office paper.

Where Does It Go?
Our paper is taken to the Recycle America yard at Prince and I-10 to be weighed, sorted, baled, and shipped. The paper currently goes from there to Weyerhauser in Phoenix where it is made into print shop paper, tissue paper, white coating on cardboard, and filler board medium.
