What We Recycle - Office PaperOffice paper is a major portion of what the UA discards. Studies show paper makes up as much as 61% of The University of Arizona waste stream. Our recycling efforts, therefore, are concentrated on paper. Each year we recycle about 220 tons of office paper. Office Pack recycling allows a wider variety of paper colors and qualities to be recycled. This is more convenient for participants and allows much more of our waste stream to be diverted from the landfill. What We RecycleColor Guide A comprehensive guide to what can and cannot go in your office paper recycling box. Office Clean-Outs Procedures for handling file and document purges, and office moves. Confidential Paper Guidelines and explanation of the process. This is a billable service. How We Recycle Recycling Containers are provided to building occupants. Medium and small containers are emptied by occupants into larger, centrally located containers. The larger containers are emptied by your friendly custodian, who takes the paper to containers outside each building. The outside containers are emptied by our current vendor, Recycle America. Where Does It Go? Our paper is taken to the Recycle America yard at Prince and I-10 to be weighed, sorted, baled, and shipped. The paper currently goes from there to Weyerhaeuser in Phoenix where it is made into print shop paper, tissue paper, white coating on cardboard, and filler board medium. |
