Q) How do I request a Motor Pool Vehicle?
A) Go to the Motor Pool Homepage and click on "Make Reservation".
Q) Who can drive Motor Pool vehicles?
A) Please refer to Policy #2
Q) When is H.O.V. training required?
A) When driving 15 passenger vans, cargo vans, and carry-alls.
Q) How do I get H.O.V. training?
A) To schedule H.O.V. training, please contact Risk Management and Safety at 621-1790.
Q) Can a Motor Pool vehicle go out of the state of Arizona?
A) Yes, check with the travel office for their paperwork requirements. For international travel the request for Motor Pool vehicle paperwork is REQUIRED to be submitted in advance.
The Motor Pool will forward a copy of the paperwork to Risk Management and Safety so they can prepare the Mexican insurance packet.
Q) I'm in a club, how do I reserve a vehicle for an official club function?
A) Contact Bonnie Arriaga at Center for Student Involvement and Leadership at 621 - 3848.
Q) Who pays for the gasoline, taxes and or toll charges?
A) The Motor Pool pays for all the gasoline for ALL Motor Pool vehicles. There are no taxes when renting from the University of Arizona
Motor Pool. Any toll fees are paid by the customer; however check with your department regarding reimbursement policy for miscellaneous expenses.
Q) How do I return a vehicle after office hours?
A) The Motor Pool has an after hours key drop box located on the north end of the
Garage/Motorpool compound. Park the vehicle, lock it and drop keys, credit card, gas receipts and etc in the drop box.
Q) What is the cancellation policy of the Motor Pool?
A) Cancel vehicle reservations as soon as possible, as others may wish to use the vehicle. Failure to cancel 24 hours prior to dispatch time will
result in a cancellation fee equal to one day's vehicle rental. Motor Pool will hold a reservation 1 hour past the arranged pick-up time and
then cancel with a one-day's vehicle rental charge.
Q) What if my U of A Motor Pool car breaks down or I am in an accident?
A) Call the Motor Pool immediately. Personnel can be reached 24 hours a day. Accident report form, telephone numbers and other pertinent information
are located in the glove compartment.
Q) Is there any discount for long-term rentals?
A) No, Currently the Motor Pool does not offer long-term rental rates.
Q) Can I bring my dog, child or spouse on my trip?
A) Animals are not allowed in Motor Pool vehicles except for Seeing Eye, Hearing-Ear and service dogs. (Please inform the dispatcher, when
making the reservation, of the need to transport one of these dogs.) No children or spouses are allowed to travel, and only University
of Arizona staff, faculty or students are allowed in U of A vehicles unless prior Authorization is obtained from the Fleet Manager and
Risk Management and Safety.
Q) Can I take the Motor Pool vehicle home?
A) University Policy prohibits taking University vehicles to private homes. Violation of this policy means the driver may be personally
responsible for injury or property damage.
